As a veteran who played with sound, it saddens me a bit to hear the music will go to the cloud. "...But Still We Go On" is the first thing I always heard when I log into eve. That welcoming music was part of the routine that kept me grounded. I understand the reasoning, and Eve is all about reasoning and cold numbers. As I listen to the music now though (on sound cloud), I am reminded that all things change, and Eve should be no exception.
My sincere hope is that the music team can come up with tracks of the quality that these old legacy tracks had. Bash the old music all you want. It has been there for a long time, and I've always loved listening to it. I'm glad that the option to listen to it in the cloud is there just in case the music team cocks it up. Actually, I think it would be great if we could hear more samples as they are developed from the music team. You could put those on sound cloud too. |

you could always...download the song and queue up your EVE playlist on your media player whenever you start the game, first song being that one? Sentient Blade wrote:Sounds good, no pun intended.
The only thing which comes to mind is for ships which are on the very edge of cap stability, potentially ticking back and forth over that 30% every time the shield booster fires. That could get a mite annoying. LOL, shield sound is already blaring in your ears every 3 seconds with an active shield tank, might as well have the cap sound effect going as well
oh I probably will. I'm getting sentimental in my old age (7 years playing, lol). I just found the old login screens and some of my favorites are missing. :( |

apart from that excellent blog. We had a video but it was from a broken build where you couldn't really see what was going on, we decided to release the dev blog rather than wait for a new video. We'll try to get something out to you, -if that fails, you should hear it on patch day!
Comparison videos for the turrets are nice, but can we get some samples of the new music? Tease us please! |

Since obviously sound doesn't travel through empty space.. Is it virtually generated in the pod? I'm not much into the whole fluff thing but i'm curious.
"As you know there is no sound in space, but when we were developing the capsules we found that people wanted to use as many of their senses as possible, thus we added the sound. By letting a computer create three dimensional sound we also add to the awareness you have while in battles, for instance."

Weird, my client will always plays "Miner Stories" first. All the old music still plays in hi-sec, and different songs for different situations/locations. Try to hear them all.
Ah, for some reason, I read that the music itself - not just the system of presenting it was changing... Teaches me to read dev blogs before my coffee has had a chance to cool a bit...
Carry on! |

I quite enjoy the login noise. I'm not sure if I really like it or if I'm just used to it. I would keep it given the choice. |

Well now you'll know about just how they rock your auditory senses, thanks to this wonderful new Dev Blog from CCP TorfiFrans. Please use this thread for all your feedback! What I'd love to have access to are the more exciting bits of music that play when you enter a mission. For ages I've been wondering how I could get my hands on those. By far some of my favorite music selections in the game with the driving industrial sound. Anyways. Cheers!
I too love those mission tracks. I wish they looped for the whole duration :( |

CCP RealX wrote:Mara Pahrdi wrote:I'm using the jukebox occasionally. And this is coming a bit early, since I'm still waiting for that 50 MBit connection I ordered and that I'll probably get in q1 2013. Currently I'm still running on 384 KBit/s , so streaming whatever ist not an option. So, if you open up your EVE folder, and go res > audio > jukebox you'll find all the mp3s used in the game. Just copy them out and put them into your favorite media player.
Will this apply after the expansion as well? |

Welcome to the game, Torfi But really i find "Skill training completed" more useful than :sound:
Overall, I would prefer Aura to make announcements when certain things do happen. Color me old fashioned, but there was a reason this worked well in the past. Aura calls out specifically what is happening/failing. The voice is level and informative. There is no ambiguity in, "A module has run out of charges". |
